Care for your pet's eyes to consider

Caring for a pet isn't just about feeding it. We must be very aware of his body, as he will be in charge of giving us the signs that something can go wrong. One of the parts that we tend to forget is his eyes, so this post is dedicated to talking to you about the care of the eyes of your pet that you should offer. Let's go!

As we said at the beginning, it is very important to check every part of our pet's body frequently. For example, in the case of dogs, their pads may be harmed after a walk and we can't even notice. Taking care of your fury’s paws properly is essential.

And did you know that the dental health of our pets is the great forget-off by the owners? Poor dental health can lead to many diseases (including death from serious infection) to your pet. Hence it is so important to clean the teeth both to the dog, as to the cat and to pay special attention in rabbits and guinea pigs as well.

The ears of our furry are other large injured if we do not care for them, otitis being a very common disease in felines and canes.

Of course, we can't forget the eyes, those who fall in love when they look at us. They can also suffer certain conditions such as conjunctivitis (especially in cats, dogs and rabbits), dry eye (very common in dogs), secretions (from allergies, because dust has been introduced, etc.), third eyelid prolapse, tearing or glaucoma.

Many of these pathologies can be avoided or corrected in time with certain precautions and routines.

Care for your pet's eyes
Here are some tips on caring for your pet's eyes that you can take so they don't suffer.

1. Frequent review
We are sure that you look a lot at your pet's eyes, but keep well with its shape, color, etc. because so, when there is an anomaly, you will notice it right away.

There should be no green legacies (or any color), no tearing, no difference in pupil size, no redness.

2. Trimmed hair
It is very important that there are no long hairs around your pet's eyes. Dirt that passes directly into the eye accumulates in them. And even if the hair is clean, it's very annoying! That's why it's important to take your pet to a specialty hairdresser to cut out those hairs, unless you dare do it yourself (always with round-tipped scissors).

3. Cleaning
A couple of times a week use a clean cotton cloth or sterile gauze to clean the corners and surrounding stuns of your animals' eyes, using a pet eye cleaner. There are also special wipes for this that is sold in the pet shops. Be careful not to touch the eyeball!

4. Remove objects with which they may be rubbed and damaged
Dogs and cats love rubbing shoulders with everything in furniture, people and other objects that get in their way. It is part of their nature, since leaving their smell everywhere gives them security.

That is why we must be careful if any of the objects that are close to our pets could cause damage to their eyes to any loss: sharp objects, with a lot of roughness, that release some type of particle to the rubbing, etc.

5. Special attention to plants
And speaking of things that can hurt the eyes of pets, you have to be very aware of plants. There are plants that are very toxic to dogs and many others also toxic to cats. Some of them, with a simple rub can cause you great evil, especially if they touch your eyes.

6. Care in the bathrooms
It is one of the most forgotten eye cares for your pet. When we bathe our pet we must pay close attention to the soap not reaching his eyes. As much as we use neutral or special soaps for them, they may cause irritation.

7. Caution in games
Playing with any pet is essential for your physical and mental health and to bond with it. However, you have to be careful and avoid rough games, because a louder-than-normal caress or a bad gesture can cause damage to the animal's eyes.

As you can see, the care of your pet's eyes is not a great effort and they do contribute a lot. Don't forget!
